VASER® Liposelection

Since the inception of traditional liposuction, plastic surgeons have safely and effectively reduced overall circumference for over 30 years. Conventional liposuction "slims" specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits through a fairly thick cannula. Most surgeons who perform liposuction utilize the Tumescent technique which works by injecting large amounts of liquid containing Epinephrine, Lidocaine and Saline into the areas of the body which contain excess fat. Although this procedure has been sufficient in reducing circumference, there has always been a concern with post operative skin contraction, laxity and trauma to the underlying tissue.

With traditional liposuction, sagging of the skin can occur because of the reduction in the underlying fat volume. Ideally, surgeons hope that the skin redrapes itself naturally over the underlying structure, but previously available devices have limited surgeons' success. Sound Surgical Technologies has designed and developed a third generation ultrasound assisted lipoplasty (UAL) system that is referred to as VASER technology that allows the surgeon to work in the superficial fatty layer where heat and thermal energy stimulates the growth of new collagen.

VASER technology, that is offered by Dr. Broadway and Dr. Millard at their Lone Tree and Cherry Creek North bod:evolve offices, has been shown to produce impressive skin contraction following surgery as well as helping to eliminate post operative complications and recovery. VASER technology breaks down and melts the fat allowing the surgeon to delicately remove it while leaving important connective tissue and blood vessels intact.

The application of heat and energy by VASER technology also allows for notable skin contraction which was not as impressive with past lipo devices. The VASER systems smaller cannula, advanced solid probes, and efficient use of power help to reduce heat related complications such as tissue damage and help to encourage the best possible skin retraction.
